About this page
Most Brussels clubs belong to the Belgian federation and meet on one or two fixed evenings or afternoons a week, in a cultural centre, a youth house, a sports complex or a café room. Inside the region there is the Cercle Royal des Échecs de Bruxelles on Saturdays near the Marolles, the Brussels Chess Club with its Monday opens at Het Huys in Uccle, The Belgian Chess Club at De Rinck in Anderlecht, Les Deux Fous in Etterbeek, Caïssa in Woluwe-Saint-Pierre, Excelsior in Ganshoren, the Watermael-Boitsfort club on Thursdays and the Ixelles Chess Club, which spreads its week over several cafés. Schaakclub Richard Réti, whose site is in Dutch, meets in Neder-Over-Heembeek, and Europchess gathers players linked to the European institutions.
Around the region the list continues in Dutch in Halle, Zaventem and Overijse and in French in Wavre, Lasne and Braine-l'Alleud. In Halle, De Zwarte Dame is a circle for visually impaired players and their friends. A few clubs are known only from the federation register, with an hour and a room but no recent event, and their cards say so.
